Actor Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga's upcoming action thriller Spirit has a new worldwide theatrical release date of October 29, 2027, coinciding with Diwali. The film was earlier scheduled to arrive in cinemas on March 5, 2027, meaning fans will wait nearly eight months longer. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced the change on X by sharing a new poster showing Prabhas in a rugged beard, dark sunglasses, and a cap, while using the hashtag to call Prabhas India's Biggest Superstar. The movie features Prabhas starring as an IPS officer alongside an ensemble cast that includes Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi as the chief antagonist, and Aishwarya Desai. The project is written and directed by Vanga and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga, Krishan Kumar, and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga under banners like T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.

Box Office Clash

The revised October release sets up a major box-office clash with part two of Nitesh Tiwari's mythological epic Ramayana, which is backed by Namit Malhotra's production house Prime Focus and Yash's banner Monster Mind Creations. Ramayana Part 2 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, and shares producer connections since Spirit is also produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series, while Ranbir Kapoor previously starred in Vanga's 2023 hit Animal.

Context

Spirit was first announced on October 23, 2025, on Prabhas' birthday with a teaser titled One Bad Habit, followed by a first-look poster on January 1, 2026. Major holiday weekends like Diwali are frequently targeted by studios for high-budget Indian film releases to maximize box-office collections across multiple markets.
