Police in Kozhikode have taken into custody a 44‑year‑old man from Bangladesh who was living in the city without proper paperwork. The individual has been identified as Mohammed Moniruzzaman, originally from Kushtia district. He was found in the Mundupalam area near Perumanna after a tip‑off indicated he was using a false identity. Sub‑Inspector P.K. Vinod of Pantheerankavu Police Station led the raid that resulted in his arrest. Moniruzzaman had been employed as a tree cutter in Mundupalam for roughly four months. During questioning he said he crossed a river from Bangladesh into West Bengal and then reached Kozhikode by train. Police noted that he had entered Kerala on a valid visa about eight years ago. The investigative team also included Assistant Sub‑Inspector Sunilkumar, Civil Police Officer Dhanish and members of the Anti‑Terrorism Squad. ## Context The case highlights ongoing challenges faced by Indian authorities in tracking undocumented migrants who enter the country through neighboring states and remain undetected for extended periods.
