Man arrested for trying to kidnap young girl in Villupuram

A young girl playing near her house in Villupuram was nearly abducted by a man from another state before alert residents caught him.

The Incident

Seven-year-old Sridevi, daughter of Rupesh and Kavitha from Aiyur Agaram, was playing outside her home when the unidentified northern state youth suddenly covered her mouth and tried to take her away. Kavitha saw the attack, grabbed a stick, shouted for help, and chased the suspect. Hearing her screams, nearby residents rushed to the spot, caught the fleeing man, and beat him up.

Arrest And Probe

Public members informed the Villupuram Taluk police station, and officers quickly reached the location to arrest the suspect. Initial police inquiries revealed that the arrested man is mentally unstable. Officers are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the matter, which caused tension in the area.
