Norton Motorcycles is set to debut its new 450cc-class single-cylinder roadster at the EICMA show in Milan, marking a major push into higher-volume markets in India and overseas. The motorcycle is expected to run on a liquid-cooled engine with a 6-speed gearbox, pushing out around 40 to 45 horsepower and matching torque. This roadster will be the first model built on a new platform referred to as the H-series, sitting below the British brand's twin-cylinder Atlas range and V4-powered Manx family.
Launch Plans And Manufacturing
TVS Motor plans to roll out Norton models in India starting with the Atlas and Manx ranges, while the new H-series roadster is expected to launch simultaneously in India and global markets. A Norton spokesperson confirmed that the brand's India entry will follow its appearance at the Milan exhibition. Manufacturing for the single-cylinder range will take place at TVS's Hosur facility in India. TVS acquired Norton in April 2020 and has invested over GBP 250 million to rebuild the business as part of its premium strategy.
Market Challenge
The new single-cylinder bikes will enter a crowded mid-size motorcycle market where they will face strong competition from established players like Royal Enfield and Triumph. Because the new Norton engine displacement exceeds 350cc, these models will face a 40 percent GST rate in India rather than the lower 18 percent rate applied to smaller engines. To offset this, the brand plans to focus heavily on modern design, advanced technology, and high quality.
Context
The mid-size motorcycle segment remains one of the most competitive spaces in the global two-wheeler industry, driven by strong consumer demand for daily commuters and touring bikes. Bringing production to India allows global brands to leverage local manufacturing efficiencies while targeting price-sensitive yet growing premium markets.

What Happened
Norton Motorcycles is expanding its lineup by introducing a new 450cc single-cylinder roadster built on an upcoming H-series platform, which will be manufactured at parent company TVS's plant in Hosur, India.
Why It Matters
This move represents a direct challenge to established mid-size motorcycle giants like Royal Enfield. However, because the engine size crosses the 350cc threshold, the motorcycles face a steep 40 percent GST rate in India, forcing Norton to rely heavily on premium design, advanced features, and British heritage to justify higher price points.
What Happens Next
The brand will first showcase the bike at EICMA 2026, with the India and global market rollouts expected to follow, alongside the setup of dedicated retail channels and service networks.
