Axis Bank posts 38% jump in quarterly profit
Reported by Kunal Bhatia (Senior Writer) · Economic Times - Markets ·
Reported by one source so far
Axis Bank posted a 38 percent rise in standalone net profit to Rs 7,003 crore for the second quarter of financial year 2027. Net interest income went up by 12 percent over the same period last year. Better loan growth and improving asset quality helped the bank improve its performance in the latest quarter.
Market Reaction
Brokerage firms reacted differently to the results. Jefferies kept its Buy rating on the stock. Meanwhile, Centrum Broking and Dolat Capital lowered their target prices for Axis Bank shares.
Context
Banks rely heavily on net interest income, which is the money they earn from lending loans compared to what they pay out on deposits. When asset quality gets better, it usually means the bank has fewer bad loans on its books.
