Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport’s official X account was compromised early Monday, and cryptocurrency‑related promotional posts appeared on its feed. At about 1.30 a.m. the handle '@RGIAHyd' posted about "StonkFun Season 1", a tool that checks if users qualify for the Stonk application linked to the Solana blockchain ecosystem. The messages tagged several social‑media accounts and showed an image advertising the programme as an activity‑based rewards scheme. The posts urged readers to verify their eligibility, noting the checker would be open for only one day.
Reaction
GMR Hyderabad International Airport officials said they are working to delete the fraudulent posts, regain control of the X account and lodge a cyber‑crime complaint with local police. No formal statement has been released yet, but airport representatives confirmed that removal efforts and account recovery are in progress.
Context
Such hacks highlight the vulnerability of official social‑media channels to unauthorized use, especially when they are leveraged to promote emerging crypto projects. The incident adds to a broader pattern of cyber‑attacks targeting public institutions for financial or promotional gain.
