The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the Indian squads for the upcoming ODI and Test series against New Zealand.
Squad Details
India is touring New Zealand to play five T20 matches, five ODI matches, and two Test matches, with the T20 series starting on October 22 in Christchurch. While the T20 squad was named earlier, the ODI and Test squads were released on October 16. Shubman Gill will captain the team for the first three ODI matches, while Shreyas Iyer will take over as captain for the final two ODIs. Shubman Gill will also lead the Test squad. Meanwhile, according to myKhel Tamil, former player Pujara has suggested a playing XI for the first Test, omitting players like Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav while backing players like Dhruv Jurel.
Context
International cricket tours featuring multi-format series require selectors to balance player workload across T20, ODI, and Test matches. Squad announcements ahead of major away tours often spark discussions about team combinations and leadership roles.
