Four people lost their lives and three were gravely injured after a high‑speed truck crashed into their SUV on a flyover near Rupapur on the Prayagraj‑Varanasi highway on Monday morning. The victims were a group of friends from Shivpuri, Varanasi, returning from the Vindhyachal temple in Mirzapur. They had stopped their Scorpio on the overpass to pose for selfies when the truck, coming from the Prayagraj direction, hit the vehicle from behind and then ran over the youths standing nearby.## What Happened Police said the truck’s speed prevented the driver from avoiding the stationary SUV. The impact forced the truck forward, crushing the youths on the bridge.## Response Emergency teams arrived quickly after the crash was reported. Using a gas cutter they cut open the wrecked SUV and freed the trapped occupants. The three deceased have been identified as Aman Yadav, Golu Yadav and Alok Mishra; the fourth victim’s name is still being confirmed. Two of the injured, Kanhaiya Yadav and Nikhil Kumar, remain in critical condition, while officials are still trying to identify the third injured person. All the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.## Context Road accidents involving over‑speeding vehicles are a frequent cause of fatal injuries on busy highways in Uttar Pradesh. This incident highlights the danger of stopping vehicles on high‑traffic bridges for non‑essential activities such as taking photos.
