Platinum Industries shares surged almost 14% on Monday, 19 October, after reaching an intraday high of ₹235. The rally followed strong buying and a sharp rise in trading volumes. The stock broke above its 20‑day, 50‑day and 200‑day exponential moving averages in a single session, indicating improving technical momentum. Analyst Rajesh Bhosale of My Advisor Alpha said the next resistance is near ₹250 while the 50‑day EMA around ₹215 serves as support. The shares opened at an intraday low of ₹200.85 on the BSE. The company reported consolidated revenue of ₹108.94 crore for Q1 FY27, a 5.58% fall from ₹115.4 crore a year earlier. Operating profit slipped 11.22% to ₹13.45 crore. Profit before tax dropped 16.11% to ₹14.95 crore and net profit fell 14.91% to ₹11.13 crore from ₹13.07 crore in the same quarter last year. Management said the decline reflects a transition phase with capacity ramp‑up and a shift in product mix. Platinum Industries has added about 60,000 tonnes per year of capacity at its Palghar plant for lead‑free PVC stabilisers, CPVC additives and lubricants. Commercial production at the expanded facility began in May 2026 and the company is working to raise utilisation. The firm is also advancing a new 60,000‑tonne‑per‑year manufacturing unit in Egypt, with an estimated investment of ₹68 crore. Commercial output is targeted by 31 December 2026 to boost exports. On 29 September, subsidiary Rivadu Lifesciences signed an exclusive purchase‑and‑sale agreement with South Korean firm CAREGEN for Korgluide health‑functional‑food products in India, and is exploring setting up manufacturing in the country.

Context

Technical indicators like moving averages help traders gauge price trends, while capacity expansions signal a company's plan to grow sales and enter new markets. Expanding abroad and diversifying products are common strategies for Indian specialty‑chemical firms seeking higher earnings.
