The new Hindi movie Udta Teer, starring actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, has been denied permission for public screening in Nepal. Bishal Bhandari, a section officer at Nepal's Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, sent the official denial letter to the movie makers.
Official Reason
The government order states that the movie is not allowed because its content goes against the rules set in Section 5(3) of the local Film Act. This official letter was dated Ashwin 30, 2083, in the Bikram Sambat calendar, which matches October 16, 2026, on the standard Gregorian calendar.
Cast And Crew
Aside from Khurrana and Khan, the movie also features the late actor Mukul Dev in the cast. Akash A Kaushik wrote and directed the project. A group of well-known producers backed the film, including Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, and Apoorva Mehta through Dharma Productions, alongside Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain via Sikhya Entertainment.
Movie Plot
The story follows a secret agent from Pakistan who crosses over into India but suffers memory loss. He forgets his true mission and starts thinking he is a loyal Indian citizen, which creates a series of funny and chaotic situations.
Context
While Indian movies frequently face bans or screening hurdles in various international territories for political or cultural reasons, neighbors like Nepal share deep cinematic ties with Bollywood. Local laws in different nations often give government departments the power to block films that touch upon sensitive political or security themes.
