Haryana Allocates ₹104 crore for Manesar Municipal Office Land Purchase

The Haryana government has released ₹104 crore to buy a 2.99‑acre plot for a permanent headquarters of the Manesar Municipal Corporation (MCM) in Sector 2. The money will be handed over by the municipal corporation to the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), which will then transfer the land near IMT Chowk and the Delhi‑Jaipur highway service road into the corporation’s name. The site lies close to existing offices of HSIIDC, the pollution control board, the Manesar tehsil, the electricity department and the sub‑divisional officer, creating a one‑stop civic hub. MCM has been renting offices for almost six years, paying about ₹25 lakh each month. Owning the land will stop that recurring expense and allow the corporation’s engineering wing to draw up building plans and hire a consultant, with construction costs to be met from its own revenue. Executive engineer Mandeep Ghanghas said the funds will be transferred to HSIIDC this month and the land will be formally handed over shortly after. Officials expect the new office to make it easier for residents to access services and file complaints without traveling to different parts of the city. Co‑locating municipal functions is expected to speed up service delivery and improve grievance redressal.
Context
Municipal bodies in fast‑growing Indian towns often operate from rented premises, which adds a steady cost burden and hampers coordinated service delivery. Securing dedicated land lets a corporation centralise offices, cut rental spend and plan facilities that match local growth.
