Young Indian racer Dion Gowda is moving up to the FIA Formula 3 Championship next season.
Team Details
Gowda is joining the newly-founded LN4 Fusion team owned by Formula 1 driver Lando Norris. He will race alongside teammates James Egozi and Gabriel Gomez in the team's first-ever F3 campaign. LN4 Fusion Chief Executive Officer Dan Richards stated that Gowda showed promising speed in Formula Regional this season and regularly ran in the top 10.
Career Path
This step makes Gowda the third Indian driver to compete in this junior racing series, following earlier drivers Jehan Daruvala and Kush Maini. The 18-year-old driver started his career in karting across Asia and Europe before moving to single-seater cars in the 2023 F4 UAE winter series. He then finished fourth in the British F4 championship with four race wins, three pole positions, and six podiums. He also raced in Italian F4, F4 UAE, Euro 4, and spent two seasons in the Formula Regional European Championship, where he won the rookie title.
Context
Formula 3 serves as an important stepping stone for young drivers aiming to reach the top tiers of motorsport, including Formula 1. Teams like LN4 Fusion help develop emerging talent by giving them experience on international racing circuits.
