The Mahindra XEV 9S Pack Three Above and the MG Hector Tomahawk EV are three-row electric SUVs that differ in their battery capacities, power outputs, and price tags.

Specifications and Pricing

The Mahindra XEV 9S features a 79kWh battery, a rear-wheel-drive layout, and an electric motor generating 286hp and 380Nm of torque. It carries an ex-showroom price of Rs 29.95 lakh and delivers a claimed MIDC range of 679km. By comparison, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV uses a smaller 69.2kWh battery, a front-wheel-drive setup, and a motor producing 204hp and 310Nm of torque. Priced between Rs 19.49 lakh and Rs 23.49 lakh, its top variant is Rs 6.46 lakh cheaper than the Mahindra, while offering a claimed range of 517km.

Performance and Braking

In acceleration tests conducted with two people on board and a full charge, the XEV 9S proved quicker across all benchmarks. It reaches 100kph in 7.54 seconds compared to the MG's 8.23 seconds, and widens its advantage at higher speeds. However, the Tomahawk EV stopped in a shorter distance during conventional 80-0kph braking, taking 27.52 meters against the Mahindra's 29.67 meters. The results reversed under regenerative braking, where the Mahindra covered shorter distances across all three regeneration levels.

Context

Electric vehicle comparisons increasingly focus on real-world charging speeds, battery efficiency, and regenerative braking performance alongside raw horsepower figures. Selecting the right model depends on balancing upfront purchase costs with long-range driving capability and daily utility needs.
