The upcoming public listing of Jio Platforms could push the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Group past the Tata Group to become India's largest business conglomerate by combined market value. Based on its proposed price band, Jio Platforms is estimated to be valued at around ₹10.3 lakh crore at the upper end.
Market Values
Reliance Group currently has 12 listed companies with a combined market capitalisation of ₹18.05 lakh crore. Reliance Industries accounts for ₹16.2 lakh crore of this total, while Jio Financial Services holds ₹1.41 lakh crore. Smaller listed firms in the group include Just Dial at ₹6,223 crore, Hathway Cable and Datacom at ₹1,725.85 crore, DEN Networks at ₹1,232 crore, Reliance Industrial Infrastructure at ₹1,129.40 crore, and GTPL Hathway at ₹615 crore.
Conglomerate Rankings
If Jio Platforms lists at its estimated valuation, the combined market value of the Reliance Group could reach approximately ₹28.35 lakh crore. This would place it ahead of the Tata Group, which currently holds the top spot with a combined market capitalisation of ₹25.92 lakh crore. The Tata Group figure is down roughly 16.4% from its October 2025 peak of about ₹31 lakh crore due to weakness in major firms like Tata Consultancy Services, Titan Company, and Tata Steel. Meanwhile, the Adani Group stands in third place with a combined market value of ₹17.23 lakh crore, led by firms like Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises, Adani Power, Adani Green Energy, and Ambuja Cements. The HDFC Group follows in fourth place with a combined market value of nearly ₹13.9 lakh crore, driven largely by HDFC Bank at ₹11.22 lakh crore.
Context
Market capitalisation represents the total dollar or rupee value of a company's shares of stock, calculated by multiplying the total number of shares by the current share price. Combining the market values of all listed subsidiaries gives a clear picture of a corporate group's overall economic scale in the public markets. Such rankings shift dynamically based on stock price movements and new public offerings.
