Kawasaki has added a mechanical centrifugal clutch to the 2027 KLE500 SE SmartRide adventure bike, letting riders pull away and stop without using the clutch lever while keeping normal lever‑pedal shifts. The SmartRide also swaps the standard SE’s tube‑type tyres for tubeless ones. Apart from the clutch and tyre change, the bike shares the same 451 cc parallel‑twin engine that delivers 45 hp at 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm at 6,000 rpm. It is offered only in Pearl Blizzard White. Kawasaki India plans to launch the model in the next few months after its international debut last year. When released, the KLE500 will join the growing sub‑500 cc adventure segment and will likely be imported as a completely built‑up unit, meaning a higher price point. It will face competition from upcoming Indian‑made adventure motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 750 and the Norton Atlas. ## Context The sub‑500 cc adventure market is expanding in India as riders look for lighter, affordable off‑road bikes, while CBU imports often carry premium pricing compared to locally assembled models.
