Delhi Police has moved the trespassing case against Cockroach Janata Party leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das to the Crime Branch's Inter State Cell for deeper investigation. This decision arrived on Monday evening just after a Special Executive Magistrate added two more days to their judicial custody. Police arrested Das and Ranka last week for entering Jantar Mantar through private property a day after authorities stopped using the area as a protest site. Officers state that the protesters shouted slogans against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, waved the national flag, and blocked staff from doing their jobs. Their peer Ajinkya Shinde walked free on a personal bond and a Rs 5,000 surety with orders to keep the peace for six months.

Reactions And Legal Moves

Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke questioned why Ranka and Das remain locked up while pointing out that the Allahabad High Court recently paused a murder convict's life sentence so he can run in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Authorities sent Ranka and Das back to judicial custody because courts rejected their sureties. Dipke also praised both men for leaving good jobs to work for social causes. Party legal head Ratna Singh called the magistrate hearings a circus and claimed authorities are misusing the law to silence protests. The party plans to fight the custody decision in higher courts while questioning why their sureties were turned down.
