Singer Daler Mehndi faced a public confrontation during his live performance at a Navratri event in Uttarakhand. Local MLA Subodh Uniyal interrupted the show, stepped onto the stage, and ordered Mehndi to stop singing. Uniyal accused the singer of being drunk while performing at a religious programme. Taking the microphone on stage, Uniyal told the audience that singing at a Durga Mata event after drinking alcohol was not right. He stated that organizers invited Mehndi for people to enjoy, but accused him of making a fool of them. Uniyal added that the singer could not even speak properly and questioned how he would manage to sing. The incident took place on Sunday, October 18, during the Kunjapuri Fair in the Tehri district of Uttarakhand. The performance was part of the cultural events organized for Navratri celebrations. Mehndi and his team have not yet issued a response or a statement regarding the allegations. In an earlier interview with Navbharat Times in 2024, Mehndi had stated that he does not consume alcohol and credited this habit for keeping his voice intact over the years. On the work front, the singer recently made his acting debut in the action-adventure comedy film Welcome to the Jungle, which released on June 26, 2026.
