Market experts have issued a buy rating for Vedanta Group company Hindustan Zinc Ltd following its strong Q2 results for 2026, which beat market estimates by a wide margin.
Financial Performance
The company reported a robust 15 percent quarter-on-quarter growth in EBITDA, compared to a consensus estimate of 6.90 percent. Revenue also grew by 12 percent during the September quarter. Analysts attribute this performance to a favourable zinc and silver price environment, improving cost efficiencies, and ongoing capacity expansion. Shweta Dikshit, Deputy Vice President at Systematix Institutional Equities, noted that the FY27 zinc cost of production guidance was revised to USD 825-850 per tonne from USD 975-1,000 per tonne.
Market Targets
Analysts have set a medium-term target of ₹590 and a long-term target of ₹677 for the stock. Mahesh M Ojha, VP at KC Securities, advised existing shareholders to hold the scrip with a strict stop-loss at ₹490, noting that the stock faces resistance in the ₹557 to ₹560 band. Fresh investors can buy at the current market price for upside targets of ₹575 and ₹590.
Context
Hindustan Zinc is a major producer of zinc, lead, and silver, operating primarily in India. Metal stocks often fluctuate based on global commodity supply deficits, energy costs, and currency movements. Expert stock targets are based on current financial projections and production guidance.
