Oil and energy companies are turning heads on the stock market as major firms announce attractive dividend payouts for investors. Global challenges like the West Asia crisis and inflation are making the energy sector a dominant theme on Dalal Street. High dividend yields give investors a steady extra source of income alongside normal market trades. Hindustan Petroleum sits at the very top of the list with a dividend yield of 6.7% for FY26. Its shares traded 0.90% higher at ₹357.70 on the BSE, backed by a market value of ₹76,112.21 crore. Government-backed ONGC follows close behind with a 5.7% dividend yield, while its stock rose 1.2% to ₹235.40 with a market value of ₹2,96,139.77 crore. Bharat Petroleum Corporation recorded a dividend yield of 5.5% for FY26, with its share price moving up 1.63% to ₹312.50 and a market capitalisation of ₹1,35,577.16 crore. Indian Oil Corporation posted a 5.1% dividend yield for FY26 alongside a return on equity of 16.33%, trading 0.40% higher at ₹137.35 with a market value of ₹1,93,955.21 crore. Other notable names on the list include Castrol India with a 4.7% dividend yield after announcing ₹11.50 per share over the past year, and Indraprastha Gas Limited at 4.6% after giving out close to ₹4.75 per share in the last twelve months. Chennai Petroleum Corporation and Gulf Oil Lubricants India both offer a dividend yield of 4.5% for FY26. Chennai Petroleum shares traded 1.92% lower at ₹1,388.35, while Gulf Oil shares traded down 0.98% at ₹1,058.10 on the BSE.
