Honda has begun selling its new CB500 motorcycle in India, with the entry‑level Alloy model priced at Rs 2.75 lakh. The bike is powered by a brand‑new 501 cc single‑cylinder engine that is both air‑ and oil‑cooled, delivering 28 hp and 43.3 Nm of torque, making it Honda’s largest air‑cooled single in the market. Three trim levels are offered: the Alloy version at Rs 2.75 lakh, the Spoke version with cross‑spoke tubeless rims at Rs 3 lakh, and the top‑spec variant at Rs 3.02 lakh that adds exclusive colours and graphics to the spoke‑wheel setup. All models share Honda Selectable Torque Control, a slipper clutch, an analogue‑digital instrument console and Honda RoadSync connectivity. The CB500 is built in India, a factor that helps keep the price competitive despite a 40 percent GST levied on motorcycles above 350 cc. It sits below the Royal Enfield 650 twins, which start at Rs 3.39 lakh ex‑showroom in Chennai, and fills a segment left vacant after Royal Enfield ended its 500 cc UCE line in 2020. The launch follows Honda’s July showcase of several new models as part of its broader India product plan, and the CB500 is the model that many enthusiasts awaited most.
