Actor Faisal Malik says the upcoming two-part film Ramayana will offer much more than what early teasers show, as he plays the giant character Kumbhakarna in the mega-budget project. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the massive film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita.

Cast and Crew

The cast also includes Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman. The production brings together top Hollywood stunt directors and crew members alongside Indian talent. Visual effects are handled by the eight-time Oscar-winning studio DNEG, while legendary composer Hans Zimmer has teamed up with AR Rahman to create the musical score. Prime Focus Studios produced the film in partnership with DNEG and Yash's company Monster Mind Creations.

Release Schedule

The first part of the epic is scheduled to hit theaters worldwide on November 5, 2026, with the second part following during Diwali in 2027. Audiences can watch the films in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam across the country. Sony Pictures will manage international distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions takes charge of distribution in the Hindi market. The makers have also planned a global IMAX release.

Context

High-budget fantasy epics in Indian cinema increasingly rely on international technical crews and advanced digital effects studios like DNEG to appeal to global audiences. Bringing together major stars from different regional film industries into a single multilingual project is a growing trend for big-budget Indian productions.
