Photo: Openverse - wikimediaA majority of Indian students think artificial intelligence helps them finish work faster. A survey by HP shows they also worry that AI might stop them from understanding and learning study material in depth.
Survey Findings
Survey findings show that 82 percent of Indian students prefer old methods like handwriting or printing notes when they want to remember what they study. Even so, Indian students still recognize the key role of AI alongside skills like creativity and critical thinking for success in future job markets. This comes from the HP Futures 2026 global survey.
Future Jobs And Confidence
About 78 percent of students believe AI will create more jobs than it will take away. Also, 87 percent feel confident they can use AI tools well and responsibly in their future careers. Indian students also show strong trust in the education system. A full 92 percent believe their education is preparing them for the job market.
Report Details
HP, the Global Learning Council, and the Education Leaders Forum led the report. They brought together 58 experts in education, policy, and the future of work to discuss how education systems can prepare young people for an AI workplace. The study covered over 6,000 students globally, including 758 students from India. The report asks policymakers in India and other places to make a clear plan. It wants critical thinking, creativity, and other durable skills to be a core part of education instead of optional extras. It also suggests keeping basic reading, math, and foundational learning at the center of education while using practical and creative teaching methods.
Context
Education surveys often look at how new tech changes the way young people study and prepare for jobs. As more schools adopt digital tools, students try to balance fast tech help with traditional study habits like writing by hand. Policymakers use these findings to plan future school rules and teaching methods.
