VinFast has filed a patent for a new electric scooter in India, marking another move toward its market entry. The company has filed patents for three e‑scooters and a motorcycle since June 2026, and it has signed letters of intent with up to 50 Indian dealers to build a sales and service network. The latest patent was submitted in April 2026 and the drawings show a clean front fascia with the VinFast logo, a horizontally mounted headlight and integrated turn indicators. An exposed handlebar and a central instrument display that could be LCD or TFT are also visible. The scooter is shown with 14‑inch wheels at both ends, a telescopic fork and twin shocks. The only Indian two‑wheelers with a similar spec are the Ather Konarc and the TVS Orbiter. The design suggests a rear‑wheel hub motor and compact proportions, hinting it could be an entry‑level model. A thickly cladded floorboard is depicted, implying the battery may be housed there and could free up boot space, though the raked tail limits depth. The patent shows a conventional key, a feature still common as most e‑scooters, such as the Suzuki e‑Access, lack keyless operation. VinFast has not announced a launch timeline or confirmed the Indian model lineup. ## Context The patent reveals VinFast’s strategy of tailoring vehicles to Indian market needs, using familiar wheel sizes and a simple motor layout to compete with established local players.
