Hyderabad‑based TrayamBhu Tech Solutions has been awarded a contract by Telangana Technology Services to build a digital tracking system for the state’s Geographical Indication‑tagged Tandur Red Gram. The assignment comes under the NeGPA 2025‑26 programme and will use a technology platform created by the company to bring roughly 65,000 Tandur farmers onto a single online registry. Each farmer will receive a unique profile that ties their land, crop and harvest details to a digital ID, allowing the individual grower behind every batch of dal to be recorded. The system will also create a chain‑of‑custody record that follows the grain from the field, through collection, processing and finally to the buyer. The initiative aims to boost farmers’ bargaining power and to bring more women farmers into the formal market. The GI tag for Tandur Red Gram – also called Tandur Toor Dal – is owned by Yalal Farmers Producers Company, which filed the application with help from Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University. The grain is grown on rain‑fed black soils in the Tandur area of Vikarabad district, soils rich in limestone and attapulgite clay that give the dal its characteristic taste, cooking quality and a protein level of about 22‑24 %. Founder and CEO Prabir Mishra said the GI tag secures the product’s identity, while the new tracking system makes that identity visible and verifiable across the whole value chain.
Context
Digital farmer IDs are part of a broader push in India to modernise agriculture and protect regional specialties. By linking each producer to the product, the system helps stop fake versions of the dal and gives genuine growers a stronger voice in the market.

What Happened
TrayamBhu Tech Solutions was chosen by Telangana Technology Services to set up an online system that records each Tandur Red Gram farmer and follows the grain from farm to buyer.
Why It Matters
The digital record gives farmers a clear identity, helping them get better prices and reducing the chance of counterfeit dal entering the market. It also pulls more women farmers into the formal supply chain, supporting inclusion.
What Happens Next
The platform will be rolled out to the 65,000 targeted growers, with farm plots mapped against the official GI zone. As data accumulates, authorities will be able to verify authenticity of each batch, and buyers will gain confidence in the product’s origin.
