PC Jeweller posted a 58% jump in its net profit to 331 crore rupees for the July to September quarter, driven by strong festive and wedding demand. Consolidated revenue from operations grew 28% to 1,054 crore rupees compared to the same period last year. Managing Director Balram Garg noted that robust consumer interest supported the strong performance across key financial metrics.

Operational Growth

Operating EBITDA rose 74% to 309 crore rupees, while the EBITDA margin improved to 29.3% from 21.5% a year earlier. The company also achieved debt-free status during the quarter by repaying all outstanding dues to its 14 consortium banks ahead of schedule. All mortgaged assets and guarantees have been fully released, and the firm received about 142 crore rupees in remittances from export debtors.

Expansion Plans

PC Jeweller plans to open up to 100 large-format showrooms over the next 12 to 18 months in Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III cities. This expansion will use a mix of company-owned stores and an asset-light franchise model. The stock has seen significant long-term gains, rising 482% over three years, though it remains below its previous all-time high.

Context

Corporate debt resolution and festive season demand often act as major catalysts for retail and jewellery stocks in the Indian market. Companies frequently use franchise models to expand their geographic reach rapidly while keeping capital expenditure low.
