Two people died after landslides hit the Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures near Tokyo. Japan Airlines cancelled 135 flights and All Nippon Airways cancelled 140 flights. Over 9,000 homes near Tokyo lost power, and more than 1.6 million residents in and around the capital were urged to leave their homes on Monday, though these warnings are not mandatory. Typhoon Dujuan brought winds of about 144 kilometres per hour on Monday while moving south of Katsuura City. The storm later moved away from the coast and headed northeast out to sea with weaker winds. Landslide warnings covered Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa and Shizuoka, and train companies stopped services on some lines. The Japan Meteorological Agency warned that total rainfall could cross the average monthly figure for September, creating record rain. The storm disrupted public events, forcing the early closure of the Tokyo Game Show on its final day. A big outdoor music festival and a baseball match in Chiba were also called off. Floods covered roads near Kamakura station, prompting Kamakura City Mayor Takashi Matsuo to warn that driving cars was dangerous due to flooded streets in the city. Water also flooded parts of Ichikawa city, located east of Tokyo.
