Two victims remain critical after school shooting in western Turkiye injures eleven

UPDATE - follow-up to Shooter opens fire near high school in Turkiye, wounding at least 11: Two of the eleven victims hurt in Tuesday's shooting outside a school in western Turkiye remain in serious condition. Justice Minister Akin Gurlek stated that investigators are probing claims that the attacker faced bullying at the institution. Police arrested the suspected shooter after he fled on foot, along with his parents and his grandfather, who legally owned the weapon used in the assault. Authorities reported that the gunman carried out the attack using a shotgun taken from his grandmother's residence. Two chief prosecutors are currently leading the inquiry into the incident, which occurred outside an educational facility in the Turgutlu district of Manisa province, located west of Izmir. Media reports indicated the gunman was enrolled at the school. Concerned family members rushed to the location following the incident, leading to minor clashes with police officers who secured the perimeter. This event follows two earlier school shooting incidents earlier in the year that prompted the government to enhance security measures at educational campuses last week.
