Match Win
India won the gold medal in women's cricket at the Asian Games after beating Sri Lanka by 147 runs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur said the team achieved its sole goal of taking home the gold and seeing the national flag fly high. The victory allowed India to retain the title won three years earlier. Kaur noted that winning the gold felt like a dream and hoped it would open the floodgates for more gold medals for the country.
Team Future
Reflecting on the experience, Kaur mentioned that cricketers always wanted to be part of big multi-sport events like the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and Olympics instead of only playing bilateral series, World Cups, and Asia Cups. She expressed hope that future facilities, stadiums, and crowds for such events would improve. She also joked that players could finally frame their medals at home, unlike trophies which usually go straight to the BCCI office.
