Mahindra has updated its popular vehicle by adding an 'OG' suffix and introducing major mechanical changes, with introductory prices ranging from Rs 10.32 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh. The new Thar OG features a revised chassis, a new suspension setup, an electric power steering, a wider track, and more powerful engines. Mahindra kept three engine choices from the older model. The base 1.5-litre diesel engine makes 119hp and 300Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox in a rear-wheel drive setup. The 2.2-litre diesel engine now generates 152hp and 330Nm, while the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine outputs 162hp and 330Nm. Both larger engines give buyers a choice between rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive layouts. The lineup now includes a new top-tier ZXT trim, bringing the total number of trims to three: AXT, LXT, and ZXT. The entry-level AXT trim costs Rs 10.32 lakh. The mid-level LXT trim ranges from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, and the ZXT trim is priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 18.99 lakh. Buyers can also choose from two new exterior paint shades named Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue, joining six existing single-tone colors. Inside the cabin, the top ZXT model gets a Truffle Brown leatherette upholstery option.
