Data-center infrastructure company Elice Inc. is making its debut on South Korea's Kosdaq market on Tuesday.
IPO Details
The Seoul-based neocloud service provider is set to raise 201 billion won, which is about $151 million, through this initial public offering. This makes it the biggest stock market debut on the exchange so far this year. The company priced its shares at 90,500 won each, which was the top of the marketed price range. This gives Elice a post-listing market value of more than 1 trillion won. Retail investors in South Korea showed massive interest by pouring roughly 10.3 trillion won into subscription deposits. This caused the retail offering to be oversubscribed by more than 400 times.
Market Context
This stock market entry happens less than two weeks after another data-center operator, the Nvidia-backed Firmus Grid Ltd., canceled its own planned IPO. Investors around the world are currently worried about rising borrowing costs, heavy competition, and whether massive spending on artificial intelligence will bring long-term returns. These concerns are pulling down company valuations and disrupting public offering plans globally. For instance, Coreweave Inc. shares have dropped by more than half since peaking in May, while Nscale Ltd. is facing pushback over the valuation target for its own IPO.
Company Growth
To convince investors of its strength, Elice reported that its first-half revenue jumped by 200 percent to reach 34.4 billion won. The firm also shifted to an operating profit of 10.3 billion won. Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization multiplied more than 11 times to hit 23.2 billion won. An analyst named Douglas Kim wrote in a note on Smartkarma that Elice is expected to see an 83 percent sales jump in 2026 alongside an operating margin of roughly 33 percent.
Background and Future Plans
Three students from the doctorate program at South Korea's top tech university, KAIST, founded Elice in 2015. It started as a platform for coding education before shifting to AI cloud infrastructure. Today, it supplies servers, liquid-cooled chips, cloud and networking tools, and software. The firm has built a modular data center platform with high-density power systems and advanced liquid cooling for high-performance AI chip clusters. Backed by venture capital firms Vertex Growth and Altos Ventures, Elice plans to use the money raised from this IPO to build more AI data centers in South Korea and other countries. Chief Executive Officer Jae Won Kim stated that the company is going all-in on becoming a global leader in full-stack AI infrastructure. Mirae Asset Securities Co. and Samsung Securities Co. served as the lead underwriters for the offering.
Context
Stock market debuts like this one test whether everyday and institutional investors are still willing to fund the booming artificial intelligence sector. Even when individual companies show rapid revenue growth, broader market nerves about high interest rates and steep technology spending can heavily influence how well new stock offerings perform.
