Diljit Dosanjh fans in Delhi will not see the singer perform live on October 30 after the Delhi Police officially denied permission for his concert due to security concerns. The Delhi leg of his Aura India Tour was planned at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. According to Hindustan Times, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police for the South District sent a letter to ticketing partner BookMyShow stating the request could not be granted.

Reasons And Threats

Police cited specific threat-related inputs alongside heavy security commitments during the ongoing festive season. Officers noted that Dosanjh allegedly received threats from Khalistani separatist groups and had informed the police about them. In May, shots were fired outside the house of his manager, Gurpartap Singh Kang, in Karnal, with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly claiming responsibility on social media. Last year, the Sikhs for Justice group led by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun also allegedly issued a threat to the singer before his concert in Melbourne, Australia.

Tour Details

Context

The Delhi event was supposed to be the opening act of the singer's India tour, with upcoming stops in Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Bangalore over the next month. The cheapest tickets for the Delhi show were priced at Rs 1,000. Major public events require formal police clearances to manage crowd safety and potential security risks, especially during busy festive periods when police forces are already deployed across various districts.
