Government offices, schools, and colleges housing 137 polling stations across Dharwad, Haveri, Uttara Kannada, and Gadag districts remain closed on Thursday for biennial election preparations. A holiday is also in place for Friday during polling to maintain law and order.
Context
Special casual leave provisions during elections are designed to ensure that working citizens can exercise their democratic rights without losing pay or facing workplace hurdles. Local administrations coordinate these temporary closures and leave rules to support smooth polling operations.
