FACT held its foundation day on September 22 at the Udyogmandal club in Kochi. Madhu S. Nair, former chairman and managing director of Cochin Shipyard Limited, delivered the inaugural C.P. Ramaswamy Iyer memorial lecture. A portrait of Iyer, the former Dewan of Travancore, was unveiled. Eleven senior employees of the public‑sector firm were honoured, according to company management. S. Sakthimani, FACT’s chairman and managing director, attended the ceremony. ## Political Reaction N. Arun, Ernakulam district secretary of the Communist Party of India, said the event was an attempt to glorify Iyer, noting that Iyer “only played a natural role as Dewan of the erstwhile Travancore in setting up the public sector unit.” He added that the state government remained silent on what he called a political agenda to highlight Iyer’s contribution.
