A flight operated by Vietnam Airlines traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Colombo made an emergency landing at the airport in Chennai late on Tuesday due to an engine failure. The Airbus A320 aircraft was carrying about 143 passengers and crew members on board. The incident led airport authorities to declare a full emergency, and teams took all necessary actions following the Airport Emergency Plan.
Landing and Recovery
The plane landed safely at around 11 pm. Everyone on board got off safely after the landing. The aircraft then moved to the parking bay under its own power. Authorities withdrew the full emergency at about 11:35 pm once the passengers had disembarked and normal airport operations started again. The stranded travelers later continued their trip to Colombo after the airline arranged an alternate flight for them.
