Her stellar performance in the movie earned her the Kerala State Film Award for best character actress along with a special mention at the National Film Awards. She began her artistic journey through theatre and remained active in the professional drama circuit for nearly five decades, also winning the state government award for best stage actress. Starting her acting career in 1961 with amateur troupes like Valayanad Kalasamithi, she later joined Kalinga Theaters in 1984.
