Representative image · PexelsBritish luxury car maker Bentley is bringing its first electric vehicle, the Torcal, to India in the second half of 2027 at an expected price of Rs 4.5 crore ex-showroom. The vehicle sits below the Bentayga in the lineup, measuring roughly five metres long with a wheelbase just over three metres, and rests on the PPE platform shared with Porsche's Cayenne Electric. Power comes from two permanent-magnet motors drawing from a 113kWh net, 800V battery that carries a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty. The setup generates 888 horsepower and 1,350Nm of torque, pushing the roughly 2.7-tonne SUV from zero to 100kph in 2.9 seconds with a claimed WLTP range of 600km. Charging on a 400kW system allows a 10 to 80 percent top-up in 16 minutes, though India currently lacks such high-speed chargers. The car features fully active suspension, five degrees of rear-wheel steer, and an optional carbon-ceramic braking system with 440mm front discs. Inside, the cabin includes powered radar-controlled doors, a curved OLED centre screen, a facial-recognition mirror, and physical knurled switches. Sound is handled by a unique 'Dynamic Symphony' recorded from real musicians playing drums, viola, and bass guitar, alongside a choice of audio systems including a 1,780W Naim setup with 28 speakers. Material choices include 15 leather shades, wood veneers under a millimetre thick, and the world's first 100 percent Merino wool automotive fabric developed with Somerset weavers Fox Brothers. The model will be substantially pricier than the Bentayga in India because EVs do not receive the same customs-duty benefits under the new UK-India free trade agreement.
