The injured officer remains in hospital for treatment.

Charges and Arrests

Aisha Zaman, from Collison Street in Hyson Green, is charged with possessing a prohibited firearm and possessing that firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. Police stated the charge followed a consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service. Zaman has been remanded into custody and faces an appearance at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Friday. Police continue to support the officer through further hospital treatment and keep his family informed of investigation updates. Detectives continue to follow multiple lines of inquiry and urge anyone with information to contact the force.

Context

Gun violence involving law enforcement officers is relatively rare in the United Kingdom, where routine police patrols do not involve carrying firearms. Major incidents involving firearms trigger extensive multi-agency investigations led by senior detectives to trace all suspects and weapons involved.
