Market Movement

The Nifty 50 index fell sharply after opening higher, trading down 0.95 per cent at 22,473 following an early high of 22,787. Indian equity benchmarks faced a third straight session of declines due to selling pressure and weak global cues that impacted market sentiment. The advances and declines ratio stood heavily negative at 5 to 45. Meanwhile, foreign institutional investors remained net buyers, but the Indian rupee weakened against the dollar as crude oil prices rose.

Support Levels

Intraday indicators point to a negative outlook with the index eyeing the 22,400 mark. If the index bounces back from 22,400, a relief bounce toward 22,500 or 22,600 is possible. A break below 22,400 risks pulling the market down to 22,200 levels. For Nifty 50 October Futures, which fell from an intraday high of 22,853 to 22,536, immediate support rests at 22,490. Sustaining above this level could push the contract back up to 22,700 or 22,750, while a fall below 22,490 risks dragging it down to 22,350 and lower. Traders are advised to stay out of the market and wait to see how the week closes before taking new positions next week.
