Seed Distribution
Farmers in Atariya received free Rabi crop seeds at the government agricultural seed store on Thursday, October 22. The distribution was carried out by the agriculture department under a government welfare scheme to support local sowing activities. Agriculture department staff member Rupendra Singh managed the process by checking necessary documents and completing online formalities for those who arrived to collect seeds. Singh stated that the government aims to ensure every eligible farmer benefits from the initiative and receives required supplies without exclusion. Meanwhile, the agriculture department in Pilibhit has also opened online bookings for Rabi seeds like wheat, lentil, and mustard. District Agriculture Officer Vineet Kumar noted that farmers can book online through the departmental website or at block-level seed stores. The district has allocated 7,855 free mini kits for mustard, along with 23,641 quintals of wheat, 33.40 quintals of lentil, and 66 quintals of mustard general seeds for booking, with subsidies ranging from 50 to 100 percent based on crop duration.
Selection Process
If applications exceed the fixed target, the department will select beneficiaries through an electronic lottery system. District Agriculture Officer Vineet Kumar emphasized that scheme benefits are strictly restricted to registered farmers holding a valid Farmer ID.
Context
Seed distribution programs and online booking portals help government agencies target agricultural subsidies directly to registered cultivators. These seasonal distributions are timed to coincide with the sowing period of winter crops across various regions.
