Bajaj Auto has launched the updated Pulsar NS200 in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.60 lakh, bringing major new electronic features and rider aids to the motorcycle. The new model costs Rs 11,000 more than the previous USD fork variant priced at Rs 1.49 lakh. This pricing also puts a slight premium on the NS200 compared to its main rival, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, which sells between Rs 1.48 lakh and Rs 1.49 lakh.
New Features And Mechanicals
The motorcycle receives a substantial upgrade package led by a new 5-inch TFT instrument cluster that replaces the old LCD unit and supports wireless Google Maps mirroring over WiFi and Bluetooth. Riders also gain access to music controls, document storage, and a lap timer through the connected app. Key mechanical updates include a bi-directional quickshifter that Bajaj calls Sports Shifter, an electronic throttle body that enables multiple ride modes, traction control, adjustable clutch and brake levers, panic brake alerts, hazard lights, and a USB Type-C charging port. Up front, the thinner 33mm upside-down forks are replaced by sturdier 37mm units, and the rear wheel now features a radial tyre.
Engine And Design
Despite the heavy technology and hardware updates, the bike retains its familiar perimeter frame, box-section swingarm, and rear monoshock. The styling carries forward the same LED DRLs, LED headlights, and the recognizable fuel tank with tank shrouds. The 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine is retained as well, but power output rises to 25.5hp—an increase of 1hp over the previous version—along with 18.7Nm of torque, routed through a 6-speed gearbox. Buyers can choose from four colour options: Ebony Black, Racing Red, Pearl Metallic White, and a new Nardo Grey shade.
Leadership Statement
Speaking on the launch, Sarang Kanade, Chief Business Officer for the Two-wheeler Business Unit at Bajaj Auto Ltd., said that performance for the Pulsar has always been rooted in power. He noted that power should also be defined by how confidently and intuitively a rider can use it, stating that the NS200 evolves this definition to meet changing riding needs while staying true to its performance character.
Context
Modern motorcycle upgrades in India increasingly focus on connectivity features like TFT displays and smartphone pairing to attract tech-savvy buyers. Adding advanced rider aids such as traction control and quickshifters to smaller-displacement bikes brings technology once reserved for premium motorcycles into the mainstream commuter and sports segments.
