Siri Sahasra, daughter of former Zilla Parishad Chairperson Majji Srinivasa Rao, filed nomination papers for two Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies in Vizianagaram district on Friday, October 23, 2026. She submitted her papers for both the Kothavalasa and Terlam seats at the Vizianagaram Zilla Parishad office. Her father recently joined the Telugu Desam Party and had previously sought the Vizianagaram mayor's seat for her, which was not granted due to various reasons.

Bobbili MLA Baby Nayana and S. Kota legislator Kolla Lalitakumari accompanied Mr. Srinivasa Rao and his daughter during the filing process. Reports indicate that she will likely withdraw from one of the two seats after consulting senior party leaders. Mr. Srinivasa Rao previously won the Merakamudiam ZPTC seat without opposition in 2019, and he expects a similar unanimous election for Ms. Sahasra in either Terlam or Kothavalasa.

Context

Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency elections form a key tier of local self-government in rural areas across Indian states. Leaders often file papers in multiple zones to weigh local political dynamics before final candidate selections are made official.
