Nomination filing for ZPTC and MPTC seats wrapped up on Friday across Tirupati district amid reinforced security measures. District collector S. Venkateswar and Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu toured a series of nomination centres to assess the safety set‑ups. Their inspections covered mandals such as Chandragiri, Ramachandrapuram, Srikalahasti, Thottambedu, Kodur, Pullampeta and Obulavaripalle. The officials said the arrangements met the required standards and that the same polling and counting method will be used for the upcoming sarpanch election. Police officials reported that all necessary facilities were provided so candidates could submit papers without fear. Election staff also appealed to leaders from all parties for cooperation to keep the process free and fair. A second round of nominations opened for selected municipalities and corporations, giving a fresh chance to those who missed the first window. Candidates who had already filed now face a longer period of uncertainty. In Mydukur town of Kadapa district, candidates showed clear nervousness as nominations reopened in every ward. Similar re‑openings occurred in parts of Kadapa, Tirupati corporations and Rajampeta municipality. ## Context ZPTC and MPTC are elected bodies representing a zone and a mandal in Andhra Pradesh’s panchayat hierarchy. Their elections shape local governance and often precede the village‑level sarpanch polls.
