UPDATE - follow-up to Nominations filed under tight security in Tirupati district: The final day of nomination filing for ZPTC and MPTC seats concluded across Tirupati district on Friday. Collector S. Venkateswar and Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu inspected nomination centres in Chandragiri, Ramachandrapuram, Srikalahasti, Thottambedu, Kodur, Pullampeta and Obulavaripalle mandals to assess security arrangements. The inspections were carried out on the same Friday as the filing deadline as part of a broader effort to monitor venues after earlier tight‑security measures. Venkateswar said the polling and counting process used for the ZPTC/MPTC election will be replicated for the forthcoming Sarpanch election. Subbarayudu said the department provided all facilities needed for candidates to file peacefully and asked political leaders across party lines to cooperate for a free and fair poll. The nomination phase was reopened for certain municipalities and corporations, giving a second chance to candidates who missed the earlier window. Those who had already filed now face an extended period of tension. Tension was evident on the faces of candidates in Mydukur, Kadapa district, where nominations opened in every ward. Trouble‑prone wards were also reopened in Kadapa, Tirupati corporations and Rajampeta municipality. ## Context The inspections underline the authorities' focus on security and fairness as the district moves toward the next phase of local elections.
