The Bihar cabinet on Wednesday approved the creation of the state’s first women’s university in Patna, named Mata Sita Women’s University, and a second university in Begusarai honoring poet Ramdhari Singh ‘Dinkar’. Additional Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary said the cabinet also gave administrative approval for salary and related expenses, allocating ₹15 crore to each university. Both institutions will be set up under the Bihar Special University Act 2026. The women’s university will oversee all women’s colleges in Patna except those already under Patna University, while Dinkar University will cover colleges in Begusarai and Khagaria but will not include colleges of Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University. A total of 24 decisions were taken in the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The cabinet also approved a new sugar mill at Warsaliganj, Nawada, transferring 99.39 acres of land to the Sugarcane Industries Department. Choudhary announced on X that the project will bring more than ₹500 crore of investment and help thousands of farmers in Nawada, Nalanda, Sheikhpura and Jamui. In a separate move, the government allocated Rs 160 crore for the Mukhya Mantri Gaudhan Vikas Rinn Yojana, a three‑year scheme that will give cattle rearers a 100 % interest subsidy on bank loans. The cabinet appointed Ms. Kanak Kumari on compassionate grounds as the dependent wife of late Subedar Santosh Kumar, who died in Leh in February 2025. It also named the underground sub‑way under Patna Smart City’s GPO round‑about “Acharya Kishore Kunal Sub‑Way”, honoring the former IPS officer who died in December 2024. Finally, a one‑time remission for selected convicted prisoners will be granted on Gandhi’s birth anniversary, October 2, 2026.
