U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor and Lieutenant General Vikrant Suresh Deshpande watched a joint firing demonstration by Indian and U.S. Army personnel on Thursday at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Bikaner. The live display took place during the ongoing military exercise known as Yudh Abhyas 2026.

The Indian Army showcased the Pinaka rocket launcher, the M777 howitzer, and the Dhanush artillery system. Their display also included AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, L70 air-defence guns, and Swathi weapon-locating radars. Meanwhile, the U.S. Army deployed HIMARS and M-LIDS units to combine artillery, aviation, air-defence, and surveillance systems in the field.

Strategic Goals

The Indian Army stated that the training shows the capacity of both forces to plan, coordinate, and execute difficult operations together. The exercise aims to improve professional trust, mutual confidence, and the ability of the two militaries to operate side by side.
