Nissan Motor India is preparing to launch a 7‑seater version of its Tekton SUV as the company tries to recover from a sharp sales drop. The new model will be an extended variant of the five‑seat Tekton that was launched earlier this year. Nissan has already rolled out the Gravite and Tekton to push more footfall into showrooms, and the 7‑seater is the next step in that offensive. After Tekton’s debut, Nissan’s overall sales rose sharply in July 2026 but fell 24.17 % month‑on‑month in August 2026, with the Tekton’s sales plunging 70.60 % in the same period, prompting the need for a refreshed offering. The upcoming SUV adds roughly 300 mm of length behind the fuel filler and keeps the wheelbase at about 2,657 mm, a move meant to control development costs. At the rear, the car replaces the C‑shaped LED tail‑light with a boomerang‑shaped unit that extends downwards and is linked by a thicker LED light bar, giving it a distinct look from the standard Tekton. The front retains the inverted‑L LED daytime running lights and LED reflector headlights, while the camouflage hides a likely new grille and redesigned bumper. Inside, the vehicle will feature three rows of seats, able to accommodate six to seven adults or a 5 + 2 layout with children in the third row, and Nissan may add amenities such as ventilated second‑row seats, dual‑zone climate control, tray tables or sliding‑reclining seats. Power‑train options are expected to drop the 1.0 L turbo petrol in favor of a 1.3 L four‑cylinder turbo, with a small chance of a 1.8 L naturally aspirated strong‑hybrid unit similar to the Duster. Buyers will likely choose between a six‑speed manual or a six‑speed wet dual‑clutch gearbox, both on front‑wheel drive.
