JSW Motors is testing its upcoming SUV, likely to be called the Combat, and recent spy photos show it parked right next to a Mahindra Thar Roxx. A car owner named Rohit Patil clicked these pictures, giving a clear idea of how the two vehicles look side by side. Both models share a boxy shape with straight front glass, bold wheel arches, and a spare tire mounted on the back door. Even though they look similar at first glance, their body proportions and small details show clear differences.
Design Differences
Street testing shows the JSW mule has a wide, flat hood and rectangular light boxes up front. This is very different from the round headlights and straight grille slots seen on the Roxx. Heavy disguise covers the front bumper and grille of the JSW model, but the main body shape is still easy to spot. At the back, the JSW vehicle features a covered spare tire, tall tail lights, and a heavy bumper. In contrast, the Roxx uses an open spare tire and smaller rear lights. A yellow warning sign on the spare tire cover of the test vehicle reads "Caution: Auto Brake — Keep Safe Distance," pointing to possible automatic braking tests. Other visible parts include roof rails, side steps, normal door handles, and alloy wheels. Advanced driver support tools and surround cameras are also offered on the overseas model.
Dimensions and Launch
While exact Indian specifications may change, overseas data for the related model gives a good size guide. Measuring 4,785 mm long, 2,006 mm wide, and 1,870 mm tall, the JSW vehicle is longer and wider than the Thar Roxx, though slightly lower in height. However, the Roxx has a longer wheelbase of 2,850 mm compared to 2,800 mm for the overseas version. The JSW Combat is expected to use a plug-in hybrid setup, making its engine options different from the petrol and diesel engines of the Roxx. Local assembly will happen in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, with a launch expected next month before the festive season. Prices are estimated around thirty lakh rupees, though the Combat name is not yet official.
