The student wing ABVP has asked for a complete overhaul of the National Testing Agency, pointing out that the testing body needs permanent staff and a foolproof system to stop paper leaks. In an interview with PTI, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad national general secretary Dr Virendra Singh Solanki stated that the NTA must reduce outsourcing, strengthen paper-setting, and fix responsibility across the entire exam process from the day it is announced to the declaration of results. Solanki noted that the NTA has faced severe criticism after the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exams and problems in the UGC-NET exam. To fix these issues, ABVP wants NEET-UG to be held twice every year in a computer-based test mode, which he said would lower the risk of leaks and help lower student mental stress and suicides by offering a second chance. While acknowledging logistical issues in testing twelve to thirteen lakh students on computers, Solanki suggested holding the exam in multiple slots and centres, and using school computer labs and mock tests on YouTube to help students in rural areas. He also asked for a stronger grievance cell to quickly solve student doubts about answer keys. On medical education, Solanki mentioned that final-year MBBS students face heavy pressure because all clinical subjects are combined in one year, and called for better quality internships where students get real practical learning instead of doing low-value tasks like making photocopies.
