Court Ruling
Danam Nagender says he is ready to face voters whenever a by-election happens for the Khairatabad Assembly seat. This comes after the Supreme Court dismissed his petition on Thursday challenging his disqualification as an MLA.
Background
The Telangana High Court had disqualified Mr. Nagender on September 18 under the anti-defection law. The courts found that he defected when he contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Secunderabad on a Congress ticket while still serving as the Khairatabad MLA.
Reactions
Mr. Nagender stated that he welcomes and respects the Supreme Court decision. He was elected from Khairatabad on a BRS ticket in 2023 before moving to the Congress. When asked which party he will represent in the upcoming bypoll, he refused to share details, stating he will announce it after getting a ticket.
