India is aiming to grow its total of 17 medals on the seventh day of the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya while searching for its second gold of the event. Track and field athletes lead the medal events today, with Gulveer Singh running in the men's 10,000m, Damneet Singh and Praveen Kumar competing in the men's hammer throw, and Manpreet Kaur alongside Krishna Jayasankar Menon entering the women's shot put final. Shooting events bring more chances for medals as APS Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil, and Niraj Kumar compete in the men's 50m rifle 3 positions individual and team finals. Kamaljeet and Suruchi Inder Singh will try to qualify for the 10m air pistol mixed team final. In team sports, the Indian men's kabaddi team plays Thailand, and the women's team faces Nepal to secure places in their respective finals. Weightlifter Nirupama Devi also competes in the women's 61kg category. These events follow a strong performance by Seema, who secured a bronze medal in the women's 10,000m race on Thursday night against strong competitors like Olympic champion Winfred Yavi and Japan's Nozomi Tanaka. Seema kept her participation a secret from her elderly mother to prevent her from worrying, leaving her family unaware that she was competing in Japan.
